Boston Airport Cab would like to alert residents of Providence to avoid driving as much as possible following heavy rain that resulted in flash floods across areas of Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts.

I-95 was submerged in the vicinity between Exit 18 (Thurbers Avenue) in Providence and left drivers without a vehicle for hours on Monday afternoon. The flooding affected several major roads in and around Providence as well as Route 10, which has since reopened.ing again in both directions around 6 p.m.

RIDOT tweeted Monday night. “All major arteries are operating, RIDOT crews will be on the job all night long to resolve any issues that might occur. Take care to drive safely if you have to leave.”

Both Governors. Dan McKee and Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza have said to avoid any unnecessary travel. R.I. State Police have warned motorists who must get out, they should not enter large puddles or areas of flooding.

A Flood Warning was issued to Northern Rhode Island and the West bay, which will remain in effect until 11 a.m. Wednesday. The remainder of the region is under the watch of a Flood Watch.

Meteorologist Michelle Muscatello says the rain is expected to continue into the early morning hours and will be heavy at times, meaning that additional flooding of streets is possible.

One of our customers told us about the building located on Peace Street in Providence that fell down during the torrential rain. Police say the building was not damaged as the building was not occupied at the time of the incident, however, nearby roads are blocked off.

Around thirty Brown University students were forced from their rooms due to flood waters entering one of the floors in their hall.

A section of Atwells Avenue in Providence is closed. Workers are working to repair sections that sank when floodwaters poured across them in the late afternoon on Monday.

The resident who lives on Pleasant Valley Parkway in Providence stated that when the viaduct overflowed the stream was so strong it dragged a vehicle in the floodwaters that were rising. The images of this vehicle are being circulated on social media.

Boston Airport Cab too faced some difficulties in changing routes and times of our rides but luckily no ride cancellations were made. Most of the bookings are made very early from the time of ride hence we’ve to make sure the route is clear from traffic and harsh weather conditions. At our site we regularly give updates about weather and closed routes to ignore any kind of inconvenience.
