New Traffic Split for I-95 Providence Viaduct Northbound Now in Place

Interstate95ProvidenceRI (1)

BostonAirportCab.com extends the advisory by the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) warning motorists that a new lane split is in place on that section of the highway as it transitions traffic to the new I-95 Northbound Providence Viaduct.

After the Downtown Providence exit (new Exit 37 / former Exit 22), RIDOT moved the high-speed lane onto the new bridge with a lane split. Drivers should maintain their speed and not slam on their brakes or abruptly change lanes at the split since this risky action would impede traffic and raise the risk of a collision. All lanes pass through the divide as both directions go onto I-95.

The State Offices/Route 146 exit (new Exit 38 / old Exit 23) should be approached from the far-right lane as before.

You can find a visual displaying these adjustments at www.ridot.net/ProvidenceViaduct.

Once more, vehicles should maintain lane discipline because, on I-95 North, all lanes are passable. Schedule and scope adjustments to all construction projects may be necessary due to requirements, conditions, discoveries, and weather.

RhodeWorks and the Bipartisan Infrastructure and Improvement Act make it possible to build the Providence Viaduct Northbound. RIDOT is dedicated to maintaining and repairing Rhode Island’s infrastructure while respecting and working to enhance the environment. Visit www.ridot.net/RhodeWorks to learn more.

All our readers are advised to follow the guidelines by Ridot. At Boston Airport Cab we respect and keep ourselves updated with every kind of traffic change around the city.
